There are many reasons we created the DUO. Most important one being, that we wanted to have a device that makes it is easy to develop on and expand upon. The device that is built on solid proven software stack that anyone can use.
Our prototype device uses PS3Eye cameras with some hardware mods, a custom high performance driver and a high level tracking application all written from the ground up to allow for the lowest processing latency possible, all while utilizing the minimal amount of CPU. We spent a lot of time in our research and development process to assure that we get the absolute best. The resulting DUO system features a rock solid camera frame sync which is crucial for high performance object tracking.
The result, as seen from the video, demonstrates our first application in hand/finger/object tracking.
Thus proving that DUO hardware and software is a good and solid base on which one can easily build upon and expand its functionality.

By the way our approach does not use typically disparity mapping methods as noted above. Also yes as we showed in the video we have awesome integration with Cinder.
